Which Storage Element Should I Use?
The environment variable VO_<VO_NAME>_DEFAULT_SE should be set on all Grid UIs and on the worker nodes (although this does not seem to be the case for all VOs on all CEs). This storage element is used when executing lcg-cr without specifying an SE explicitly with the -d option. (See the manpage of lcg-cr(1) for details.)
There are several Storage Elements at DESY:
dcache-se-desy.desy.de: This is the VO_ILC_DEFAULT_SE and the VO_CALICE_DEFAULT_SE for Grid UIs at DESY.
dcache-se-atlas.desy.de and dcache-se-cms.desy.de: The same for the VOs atlas and cms.
srm-dcache.desy.de: The usage of the HERA dCache as a Storage Element has been stopped at the end of 2008. Local access is still possible.
grid-se3.desy.de: This Storage Element has been shut down at the middle of 2008 and is no longer available.
grid-se2.desy.de: This Storage Element has been shut down at the end of 2007 and is no longer available.
To learn which Storage Elements are available for your VO, use the command lcg-infosites --vo <VO_NAME> se. Note that this command has a verbosity switch (option -v LEVEL) which will actually decrease the amount of output.
