Introduction
Besides the prove that Micro-Pattern Gas Detectors (MPGDs) -here GEMs- can be used reliable in a TPC for the LDC detector, one goal of studies with the prototype at DESY has been and is the study of the achievable resolution. The TESLA TDR stated as goal a single point resolution of 70 μm at 10 cm and 190 μm at 200 cm; the latest agreement inside the LC-TPC collaboration states a goal of about 100 μm over the whole drift length.
To study the resolution, several data sets have been taken with the MediTPC prototype using different gas mixtures, pad layouts and at different magnetic fields. These results are presented here (the studies of the systematic effects of the reconstruction methods can be found on the page about the systematics of track reconstruction).
